On Day 17 we picked a few places to visit on our long list of options for food and drink and headed out for the day. After a short walk around downtown Charlottetown and the waterfront, we went for lunch at the Cork & Cast, a floating restaurant at the Seaport Marina.

It was a beautiful day for sitting outside and enjoying the sun, as well as the delicious fare offered by Cork & Cast. We had a cup of chowder each, the vine leaves, and a haddock dinner to share. Everything was fresh and tasty and the service and atmosphere were exceptional.

After lunch we walked around Founder’s Food Hall, which is a must-do if you are in Charlottetown. There are many excellent-looking food options and the hall itself is very fun and photogenic. If we hadn’t just stuffed ourselves there were many things we would have loved to eat here!

As we continued walking around Confederation Landing, we were drawn in by the irresistible smell of Cow’s Ice Cream. Against all good judgment we went in with the intention of getting a single scoop each. There were too many flavours we wanted to try however, so we walked out with two double-scoop servings and I have no regrets whatsoever.

Next we walked to the taproom at Upstreet Craft Brewing. Upstreet has two locations in Charlottetown, the other being Craft Beer Corner. At the taproom, we ordered our beverages and played some Trivial Pursuit until it was back onto the Confederation Trail to our next location: Red Island Cider.

Red Island had some interesting flavoured ciders that were too delicious-sounding for us to pass up. Jon had the Billet-Doux Strawberry Lavender cider and I had the Lady’s Slipper haskap cider. Both were excellent and it was a great place to stop and relax on the patio.

Continuing on the trail, we made our way to Joseph A. Ghiz Park where there was signage for the Island Walk and Confederation Trail that we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to photograph!

After going back to our Airbnb to freshen up, we were on our way to Sim’s Corner for dinner. Sim’s is a classic steakhouse with a great wine list and we were very excited about our meal. The special for the night was a steak for two with shrimp, which was exactly what we had in mind so it was an easy sell. We added on a dozen oysters, and a spoon of caviar each.

We also had frites, making the meal everything you would want (and then some!) from a steakhouse. We left very full and a little tired, but that didn’t stop us from keeping the party going! Next up was Baba’s Lounge for a little Thursday Night Jazz featuring Paul St-Amand. It was a great way to end a long, delicious day of exploring Charlottetown!
