Day 20 started early as we packed our bags for the last time. We weren’t ready to leave or to end our amazing adventure, but we wanted to make our last day a memorable one and we wanted to make sure we got in a walk, so we made the decision to walk to the airport after a few final stops in Charlottetown.
Our flight wasn’t until the early evening, so we had a full day to spend and we started by looking for some breakfast. Unfortunately it was raining when we checked out of our Airbnb, and our first attempt at getting breakfast was met with a huge lineup and wait-time, so we continued on and found a spot at Linda’s Coffee Shop and Restaurant where we enjoyed a great traditional breakfast.
After breakfast we walked through the Downtown Farmer’s Market. It was quite big and featured lots of different types of vendors, including fresh veggies and fruits, as well as jewelry, ceramics, baked goods and wood work. We purchased a couple of souvenir items from Wooden Fox Woodworking, including a cute magnet shaped like Prince Edward Island!

Next we went to Hopyard for yet another craft beer. We immediately fell in love with the place as not only do they have a great beer list, but they have an awesome selection of vinyl and will let you choose the music! They have a delicious sounding menu but we weren’t hungry after breakfast so sadly we didn’t get the chance to sample their food. Yet another reason to come back to PEI!

We were then on our way to the airport, taking the Confederation Trail and making a pit-stop at Coach’s sports bar on the way to watch the Blue Jays game. On the trail we passed the Urban Beehive Project, an award-winning urban design project that houses thousands of bees.

At Coach’s we had a snack and a beer and watched almost the entirety of the Jays game before we had to leave to finish our walk to the airport. On the way we walked past an informative post about Cemetery Station, a stop when the Confederation Trail was a railway. It was also interesting to walk onto the property of the airport given that we typically take taxis. It made us rethink the possibilities of walking to other destinations you typically don’t assume you can!

While it was bittersweet having to leave, it was impossible to be sad when we considered what we’d experienced over our 20 days in PEI. We know that our way of doing things isn’t for everyone, but we’re sure there is something for everyone on the Island, and that taking the time to slow down and walk parts of it is a great way to experience it.
Below is our final walk, to the Charlottetown airport, for this trip at least!
