Day 3 – Brackley Beach to Stanhope

On Day 3 we checked out of the Barachois Inn and once again took a Yellow Cab to the starting point for our hike: Shirley’s Snack Bar in Brackley Beach. They are famous for their burgers but we tried the lemon chicken, dumplings, fried rice and an egg roll and everything was delicious. The place is super cute to boot, and we highly recommend it!

After lunch we hit the road and following a short walk on a busier road we were soon in Prince Edward Island National Park. This walk was great as it follows a walking/cycling path all the way through the national park to our final destination: Dalvay by the Sea. There are also plenty of beaches and other points of interest to stop and rest.

Mid-afternoon we arrived at Dalvay by the Sea, a former private residence turned hotel that was built in 1895. Dalvay prides itself as a place to relax and has no phones, radios or televisions in the rooms. Service is second to none and our one-night stay was perfect. We enjoyed a cocktail in the lounge before our excellent dinner, followed by a nightcap by the fire. The following morning’s breakfast was the perfect start to another day of walking!
