Wine & Walking Day 3: Welland to St. Catharines

On day 3 we woke up at Rose Manor and a beautiful breakfast was waiting for us on the front porch. It was absolutely delicious and just what we needed to start our day of hiking. Thanks to our amazing hosts Kristen and Kathryn for providing such a relaxing and comfortable stay!

After breakfast we packed up and were back out on the Welland Canal trail. There we heard a lot of birds, including an osprey!

For lunch we stopped into Bridge 12 Pub & Eatery. We watched a Euro Cup game and were entertained by the “Singing Bartender” at the pub. The food was great and the MGDs were cold. We grabbed popsicles on the way out and made our way up the canal. When we reached one of the lift bridges of the canal I decided I had walked enough so we ordered an Uber and made our way to our accommodations for the night, Rodman Hall.

Rodman Hall is a beautiful heritage building that was once an art gallery but is now a boutique hotel and event space. We stayed in the Mary Catherine suite which was very comfortable and gorgeous, just like the rest of the building.

We relaxed for a while, got cleaned up and went out to walk around St. Catharines. Everywhere we went people were asking if we were going to “the concert” which we had no knowledge of until we looked into it after hearing everyone talking about it. It turned out there was a festival called Born & Raised happening that weekend. We decided to walk by the park where the show was being held and caught a bit of the end of Sloan’s set. It started to rain so we ducked into Bolete wine bar for a pre-dinner drink.

Afterward we made our way to Fat Rabbit again, this time for dinner. We started with some scallops and mussels, followed by a porterhouse steak with some asparagus and mushrooms. For dessert we had a pineapple funnel cake. Everything was phenomenal and I would come back to St. Catharines just to visit Fat Rabbit again!
