Day 6 – Saint Peters Harbour to Goose River

On Day 6 we were tackling our longest walk yet, and without any help from a taxi. We set out early from Nature Space after enjoying our breakfast, as there was rain in the forecast and we were hoping to avoid it by arriving at our destination before it was expected to start. We walked to Morell where there is an entrance to the Confederation Trail, and took the trail to Saint Peters Bay. The walk was long (16km) but the views were absolutely breathtaking so other than the blisters on our feet reminding us, we barely noticed the time passing.

In Saint Peters Bay we stopped for lunch at Rick’s Fish and Chips. We had fish and chips, jumbo shrimp and a salad and everything was absolutely delicious. We also ordered an APA and Blueberry Sour from Copper Bottom Brewing to make a “Blapa”, a mix of blueberry beer with a pale ale that we tried for the first time at Blue Mussel Cafe. Our server had explained to us that a “Blue 72” is a mix of Gahan Brewing‘s 1772 IPA and Blueberry Ale but that Blue Mussel mixes the Long Shore APA with the Blueberry Ale to make a Blapa. We were unsure if the Blueberry Sour version would be a successful experiment but it was surprisingly good!

After lunch we continued on to our final destination for the day, 45 Steps Inn. At 45 Steps we were greeted by Barbara and Thomas who were to be our hosts for the next 3 days. We unpacked and went to the lounge for a glass of locally-made rosé. Next was dinner, which was a 3-course menu made by Barbara. Everything was fresh and delicious and we were happy about our decision to have dinner at the Inn every night of our stay at 45 Steps.

Before retiring for the day we walked down the 45 step-staircase to the beach to take in the amazing ocean views.
