Day 2 of our trek started with breakfast at The Barachois Inn. We met two couples and discussed our plans for the day and discovered we would be having dinner at the same restaurant around the same time as one of the other couples. We were glad to hear this as it seemed like it could be useful should we be tired after another long day of walking since they would be driving to the restaurant.
After breakfast we got a Yellow Cab (that we had scheduled through the company’s website the day before) to Stanley Bridge so we could have lunch at Carr’s Oyster Bar. We arrived earlier than Carr’s opens so we took the opportunity to walk around the picturesque area surrounding the restaurant.

We had been to Carr’s once before on a previous trip to PEI and came back this time for the beautiful setting and of course, the delicious, fresh oysters that we paired with a favourite Nova Scotia wine.

After lunch it was off to the Trout River Trail. We were happy not to have our packs on Day 2 as it was quite warm and some of the walking was along busy roads. Aside from this, the Trout River Trail itself was incredibly beautiful and worth enduring the conditions to get there and back.

Next we walked along PE-231 and New London Road. The roads were steep in places and mildly busy with traffic so this was not my favourite part of the walk! When we saw the Glasgow Hills golf club we decided it would be a good time to take a seat and have a nice pint of Island Red beer.
After a much-needed rest we moved on to dinner at The Mill restaurant. Unfortunately I realize that I must have been enjoying the food and atmosphere so much at the Mill that I didn’t take any photos. We would highly recommend The Mill if you find yourself in the New Glasgow area – the food and cocktails were delicious, and dessert was especially tasty.
After dinner we started our walk back to The Barachois Inn in Rustico. About 30 minutes into our walk, the couple we met at breakfast pulled over and asked if we wanted a ride. We were very happy to take their offer as we spent more time enjoying our meal at The Mill than we had anticipated (we couldn’t stop eating!) and it was getting late (not to mention, we were very full!)
Overall it was another great day of walking the Island, even if we didn’t walk as much as we had expected. A map of our walking path can be found here.
