After waking up early and packing our backpacks once again, we made our way to the Inn at Bay Fortune for our last Fireworks breakfast. After fuelling up we were then on the road to Annandale where we would be staying for two nights in a lighthouse! This was definitely one of the things we were looking forward to most on the trip.
The walk to Annandale took us mostly along a highway that was thankfully not very busy, and a common sight during the walk was pasturing cows.

As we approached our destination after about 11km of walking, we came upon a plaque commemorating the heritage status of the lighthouse.

We arrived well before check-in time but wanted to dump the backpacks that were seemingly getting heavier each time we wore them, so we dropped them off and made our way to the private beach on the property. The beach provided stunning views, and there were many different shells of all the delicious creatures we’d been eating during our time on the Island: blue mussels, oysters, scallops, clams, and even crab.

Once check-in time arrived we brought our bags in and of course immediately started on our way up the stairs of the lighthouse. I didn’t make it to the top (there are 4 staircases and I made it up the third before chickening out) but Jon did. He told me to go outside and take a picture of him in the window and I tried, but the result isn’t great. That won’t stop me from sharing it, though.

Jon got this excellent shot from the top of the lighthouse that allowed me to see the view without having to brave the 65 foot heights!

The interior of the lighthouse was cute and comfortable and we spent the rest of the afternoon watching the Jays game and relaxing our feet.

In the evening we decided to take advantage of the fire pit and take in the amazing sunset. We roasted marshmallows and enjoyed a glass of wine, and we have our amazing Airbnb host Greg to thank for that. Since the lighhouse is in a fairly remote area when you are on foot, there aren’t any stores near enough to make a trip for supplies. Greg graciously offered to pick up a few items for us to make our stay easy and comfortable. We can’t thank him enough for his generosity!
