We again took a Yellow Cab to the starting point for our Day 4 hike: Mount Stewart. We stopped at In the Mix bakery to pick up sandwiches to eat on the walk. While in the bakery a customer asked “are you doing the Island Walk?” When we answered yes, he said “I invented it” at which point we realized we were speaking to Bryson Guptill. We were a little star-struck, given we had read all about Bryson in various publications, as well as read the guidebook he wrote. He gave us a lot of helpful tips about navigating the trails, encouraged us to register (which we will!) and told us about some additional resources that we had not previously known about. It was a great start to our Day 4 walk!

On this day the majority of our walk was on the Confederation Trail, the trail on the path of the former railroad in PEI. The trail has markers for each kilometre which is nice for tracking your distance and pace. It also has benches and picnic tables for stopping for a break.

After walking the Confederation Trail for about ten kilometres, we walked down some rural roads for another few kilometres to get to Nature Space, a beautiful resort offering stays in yurts (we stayed in one of two non-yurt spaces, The Eagle’s Nest) and activities such as yoga and kayaking. When we arrived we immediately jumped in the private hot tub to sooth our sore muscles and insect bites. We also received our charcuterie dinner and breakfast package for morning. The bread in the package is homemade by the operators of Nature Space and the eggs (brown and blue!) come from chickens that are on site! A very unique and special experience with a lot of attention to detail.
